The objectives of the Atlanta Chapter of the NHAA are as follows:

  • To promote the welfare of the University by creating a sense of personal commitment, loyalty and affirmation of University goals and traditions.
  • To implement programs that serve to stimulate the intellectual and cultural growth of our members through seminars, career services, and publications.
  • To assist the Association in recruitment of good and deserving students for the University.
  • To raise funds for the University and encourage alumni participation that will assist in increasing our area alumni donor base.
  • To enhance communication between the alumni of metro Atlanta and the University.
  • To diplomatically represent the University in our local community through service.


COMMITTEES

We invite you to become a part of our membership. Please take the time to review our committees. We are committed to uplifting our Home-by-the-Sea and it is our hope that you are willing and able to give your time and your talent to enhance Hampton University and the NHAA Inc., Atlanta Chapter.

Alumni Giving Committee
Organize the chapter to maximize the amount and participation of alumni in alumni giving for the benefit of Hampton University.

Student Recruitment and Retention Committee
Serves as the organizing body for the chapter regarding student recruitment and retention for local, regional, and national activities.

Community Service Committee
Coordinates local community service activities.

Finance Committee
Shall monitor all income and expenditures of funds to assure compliance with budget appropriations.

Communications / Public Relations Committee
Coordinate and publicize all chapter events, fundraisers, and membership activities. Implement and maintain communication tools to relay info to the general membership of the chapter.

Choir Committee
Shall work directly with university personnel to organize all activities regarding the Hampton Choir, His Chosen Sounds annual performance for the chapter.

Alumni Recruitment
Serves as the coordinating body for the chapter regarding alumni recruitment for local, regional, and national activities.

Business Networking
Responsible for establishing a network of local alumni entreprenuers that will be displayed on the website for others to solicit, along with developing workshops for existing and budding entreprenuers.

Fundraising Committee
Foster development and growth of fundraising committee members committed to preserving and enhancing The National Hampton Alumni Association and Hampton University.

Scholarship
Coordinates the selection of scholarship recipients by the chapter. It shall also recommend criteria for selection of recipients for local awards while organizing programs to raise monies for scholarship.

Special Events
Shall organize media campaigns to keep the local, national, and international alumni as well as the public at large, regularly informed of activities and services being rendered by the chapter. Coordinate all special events for the chapter, while working directly with regional chapters for regional and national events.

Technology Committee
The Technology Committee supports the use of the web and other technologies to better serve the needs of alumni. The Technology Committees responsibilities may include providing general recommendations to the Alumni Association, offering content for alumni websites and designing and developing web pages.
